Post High School Planning

Courses taken at Discovery School help prepare for future choices.

Transition to High School

Technical Colleges

Most career opportunities in this century are in the technical areas. 2-year and techincal colleges provide training to prepare for a career in these areas. To attend a 2-year or technical college a high school diploma or GED is required for admission.

Military

Unlike in the past, a high school diploma or GED is required to enlist in the military. The military, then, provides educational and career preparation opportunities.

4 Year Colleges

If you are interested in a career that requires a college degree, it is necessary to take certain classes in grades 9-12 that 4-year colleges require for admission. Your school counselor can help you plan for this.

On The Job/Apprenticeship

In high school there are opportunities for on the job training in some areas. Check with your school counselor for information on this. Some careers have on-the-job training or apprenticeships available after high school has been completed.
